What if the new NSX out-performs the new GT?

I feel that this car will probably end up being set up from the factory well below its top potential in the name of reliability.

Then Ford will spew a bunch of Ferrari-esque nonsense about "passion" and "legacy" and "because racecar"

There's that possibility. There's also the possibility that it will be another GT-R moment.

Either way, we'll find out soon enough.

they are two categorically different cars. The R8 isn't meant to directly compete with the Vantage or Bentley Continental GT despite similar MSRPs. At this price bracket, people buy what they want, not what is best on paper.

Or, completely different irony, what if something happens and they end up not putting into production for another five years.

So it would be an LFA?

This will still be faster:

I'm thinking with electric motors, awd, and a nine speed, it'll be a rocket at launch. Got a feeling it'll peter out though probably due to the weight of awd and e-motors. That new GT is flippin tiny!

As much as I want this to be true, the GT will probably be a significant amount lighter.

LFA was 200k more, GT or NSX is a better choice for attainable wet dreams.

Basically, but with a worse case of automotive blue balls.

I highly doubt it

Even if the AWD is as good as the GTR's the power of the GT and the light weight will make it a track monster

The NSX might jump off the line quicker, but the GT will be very quick around a road course

And cheaper. And available with a manual. And still have a V8.

You know, I don't feel so bad about not ever affording a Ford GT anymore.

Batteries and electric motors mean it will not be the lighter car. So if it's going to beat the GT, it's going to have to be more powerful. 'North of 550HP' does not inspire confidence there against a probably lighter 600HP car.

It won't be the fastest....just the easiest to drive...with "honda reliability". As was the first. Basically the accord of supercars for automotive writers.

The corvette at 3500lbs will not compete if the power to weight ratio claim is true. Carbon tub, carbon body hyper car...probably going to be close to 3000lbs. The corvette at 650 hp and 3500lbs, power to weight is 5.3lbs per hp. The GT if 600hp and 3000lbs is 5lbs per hp and the mclaren P1 is about 900 hp at only 3075lbs and is 3.4lbs per horsepower. Who knows how far ford went with weight savings, but the gt is going to be faster. Especially things like the active aero on the GT it won't be locked into one aero setting prohibiting the top end like the z06/7 exhibits. Ford said it would have one of the highest power to weight ratios of all production cars.

Since the GT is designed with the idea of competing at the highest levels in motorsport and the NSX isnt is pretty much all you need to know. On top of that the GT will have more power, less weight, better aero for starters. I know your username kind of says it all.
